Why we ventured into Agriculture- Origin Group Chairman (Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, Executive Chairman, Origin Tech Group)

LafsincoMay 27, 2026

For 25 years, Origin Group has been working closely with Nigerian farmers, communities and agricultural operators.

What started as manufacturing evolved into agricultural mechanisation after seeing firsthand the challenges farmers face daily: lack of equipment, poor infrastructure, low productivity and limited access to modern farming systems.

This led to initiatives like:

* Tractorise Nigeria

* Tractor on the Go (TOG)

* Origin Eagle internship programme

* All-in-One / Greener Hope framework

Over the years, one thing became very clear:

Agriculture in Nigeria is not only about tractors.

It is about infrastructure, logistics, training, cold-chain, storage, processing, financing and market access.

A farmer cannot compete globally if:

roads are poor,

logistics are expensive,

equipment is inefficient,

or products cannot reach markets in time.

That is exactly why integrated ecosystems like LAFSINCO become critical for the future of Nigeria’s food security and agro-industrial growth.

Nigeria has the land, the market and the people.

What is needed now is large-scale execution, coordination and long-term investment into complete food systems.

The future of agriculture in Africa will not be built farm by farm alone.

It will be built through connected ecosystems that link production, processing, storage, logistics and distribution together.
